Spring Training 2016

As the calendar turns into 2016, thoughts turn to New Year’s Resolutions like getting in shape or running a half or full marathon in 2016!  I can already hear the quiver in your voice as you ask:  “How will I get ready for my races in the spring and summer of 2016?”

Don’t despair!  The solution for each of you (and as many friends as you can attract to help us get through the rest of the winter and through the early spring months) to keep at bay those winter blues is Coach Brendan’s Spring Training.  This 12-week Spring Half Marathon Training Program will begin in February with the first group run to be held on February 13, 2016.

Spring time also brings the opportunity to run faster with an 8-Week Speed Training Program, Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. from March 8, 2016, through April 26, 2016.

Our target race for the program is the Vancouver Half Marathon in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on May 1, 2016.  Information about the Vancouver Half Marathon can be found here.  Training includes a race discount for the Vancouver races.

The Spring Training Season is perfect for half marathons Mid-April to mid-May (which includes Vancouver, Flying Pig, Palos, Illinois, Kentucky Derby and Nashville – all held the weekend of April 30/May 1.

Saturday group training runs begin and end at Road Runner Sports, 1435 North Kingsbury, with lots of free parking available.

Tuesday night speed training workouts are held at the track at Lake Shore Drive and Wilson Avenue, with lots of free parking available.

Fees for Programs

  • Early Registration I, from December 25, 2015 – January 15, 2016
  • Early Registration II, from January 16, 2016 – February 1, 2016
  • Regular Registration from February 2, 2016 – close of Registration

Half Marathon Group Training:

  • Early Registration I –         $160 ($140 for Alumni)
  • Early Registration II –        $170 ($150 for Alumni)
  • Regular Registration –     $175 ($155 for Alumni)

Speed Training:

  • Early Registration I –          $80 ($70 for Alumni)
  • Early Registration II –         $90 ($80 for Alumni)
  • Regular Registration –      $95 ($85 for Alumni)

 Combination Half Marathon and Speed Training:

  • Early Registration I –          $230 ($200 for Alumni)
  • Early Registration II –          $250 ($220 for Alumni)
  • Regular Registration –     $260 ($230 for Alumni)

Half Marathon Virtual Training:

  • Early Registration I –         $65 ($55 for Alumni)
  • Early Registration II –        $75 ($65 for Alumni)
  • Regular Registration –     $80 ($70 for Alumni)
